Meditate to Calm Yourself

5 Minute Meditation

5 Minute Meditation

‘Allow nature’s peace to flow into you as sunshine flows into trees’ - John Muir

Spending time with nature is a shortcut to serenity. Observing and breathing the cleansing air makes us feel positive and leaves us in awe of the beauty that God’s creation withholds. While we walk past trees, we can hear the beautiful rhythmic chirping of birds, the moist air touches our skin and we can smell the rich soil. We encounter a plethora of emotions that we can’t control and this instantly calms us down.

If a brief time spent at a park observing nature can help us tap into its therapeutic power then we can surely harness it at our own will.

Meditation is practice that can instantly transport oneself to serenity and it’s the easiest technique out there.

Begin the meditation by sitting comfortably in a quiet place where you won’t get easily distracted. Then take a few deep breaths and relax your mind and body.

Start picturing yourself amongst nature. Notice the vast landscapes covered with trees and smell the rich soil and clean air. Listen to the wind rustling through the leaves and birds beautifully chirping.

Visualise the leafy trees, branches, different shades of the leaves. Smell the colorful, vibrant flowers and feel the texture of each petal. Appreciate the simplest form of God’s gift and witness the beauty it holds.

Soak up the warm light emitting from the sun. Fill yourself with energy and positivity. Learn the true meaning behind ‘prettiest sunsets occur after a bad storm.’ Calm yourself.

Once you’re done, slowly open your eyes and take the energy received along with you throughout the day. This will immensely help you in reducing your mental stress and in turn will keep you me mentally healthy.
