Thoda is played in teams of two, where each team has 500 members, the majority of whom act as cheerleaders for the team. The two groups are named Saathi and Pashi, who are supposed to be the descendants of the Pandavas.
Both the groups dance to the rhythms of the warfare and wave their swords high up in the air to mock each other. The Saathi team is blocked by the Pashi team using a chakravyuh. The Saathi team tries to invade the chakravyuh to get into the middle of the ground. Both the teams are at least 10 meters away from each other.
